“It is better to compete with yourself than with others”
Hi, Thomas! Where did your interest in IT come from?
I was first introduced to IT during my time at university; however, I didn’t initially enjoy it. My perspective changed thanks to a friend who was proficient in Python. He presented some impressive projects he had created, which sparked my interest and made the learning process much more engaging.
I imagine there’s more to you than just IT. What were your other interests when you were younger?
I have always been a huge fan of sports. When I was younger, I participated in a variety of activities, ranging from classic sports such as tennis and biking to more unique disciplines like MMA and kendo.
Where did you work before coming to Devoteam?
I was working in a startup company in Brussels. I was in the sales team for a year.
And how did you get here? Did you find a specific opening?
I arrived in September 2023, so it has been less than a year. My move was facilitated by a friend of mine who works in the same department.
Ah, so you received some help! And what else are you interested in outside of work?
Sports and game development have always captivated me. I continue to actively participate in various sports. On the side, I enjoy expanding my coding skills. Currently, I am particularly fascinated by learning how games are created and the intricacies involved in their development.
So, you haven’t been here for that long, but did you already have projects you have been working on?
I am currently working for ETNIC, focusing on implementing various project scopes. I have contributed to the development of a new portal, the implementation of SecOps, and several other minor projects.
So it seems you had a flying start! And out of your current projects, which one was your favourite?
The implementation of Vulnerability Response (SecOps) was the first project of its kind for Devoteam Belgium. I collaborated with colleagues from France, who were very supportive. This was also my first project, and I learned a great deal from the experience.
“Opportunities don’t happen, you create them.” — Chris Grosser
What is something you did at Devoteam you were most proud of?
I haven’t been that long in the company to have the greatest experience yet but can’t wait to see what it can be!
We can’t wait to see your future plans then! Any other things you wanted to mention?
I am still at the beginning of my career journey so I still have a lot to learn. I know where I want to go and how to achieve it thanks to the ACT with the coach.
Thanks, Thomas!
