Did you know that the digital industry now weighs more than the air travel industry accounting for approximately 4% of global greenhouse gas emissions, while air travel accounts for approximately 2.5%? It’s a fact that highlights the crucial role that the tech industry has to play in addressing the global challenge of climate change.
At Devoteam, we recognize this responsibility and are committed to taking action. That’s why we are proud to announce our commitment in the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi), which encourages companies to set science-based targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement.
Our commitment to the SBTi is part of our long-term journey to combat climate change, building on our existing achievements. Through our commitment to the SBTi, we will ensure that our targets are grounded in the latest climate science and involve our entire value chain. We recognize the urgent need for deep emission cuts to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C, and we are committed to doing our part to achieve this goal. The SBTi Net-Zero Standard is the best and most credible pathway to achieve net-zero emissions by 2030, and we will work closely with the SBTi to ensure that our commitment meets their rigorous standards and is validated by their team.
As we move forward with our SBTi commitment, we will strive for transparency and accuracy in our communications, avoid potentially misleading or inaccurate claims by carefully fact-checking our communications and encourage others to do the same.
We are excited to be a part of the SBTi community and to contribute to a more sustainable future. Stay tuned for updates on our progress towards setting science-based targets!
