Modern Data Platforms and AI: Here to Stay
Far from the hype, modern data platforms and AI are establishing themselves in the corporate ecosystem. And they’re here to stay. Nearly 1,500 participants shared this observation at the recent Snowflake World Tour 2024 in Paris. Devoteam participated as a premium partner. Last June, the Snowflake Summit in San Francisco demonstrated an interest in these issues. The Paris edition of the Snowflake World Tour confirmed this, with no fewer than 27 sessions and 65 speakers sharing their Data and AI initiatives. In addition to fostering synergies, these sessions provided an opportunity to discover the latest AI Data Cloud applications offered by Snowflake and its partners. It was a lively affair, with many professionals searching for solutions and innovation, all taking place in the quiet surroundings of the CNIT at La Défense.
Challenges and Prospects for the Future of AI and Data
The event also served as a reminder of the challenges facing those who believe in the potential of data. In front of an enthusiastic audience and to the rhythm of the applause, Benoit Dageville, co-founder of Snowflake, said, “AI must come to your data and not the other way around”. Indeed, the new data paradigm poses three major challenges for businesses:
- The complexity associated with silos and data flows.
- The potential increase in costs involved in managing these new architectures.
- The unavoidable issues of security and confidentiality.
These challenges are mobilising the Snowflake platform’s partners and integrators, among whom Devoteam wishes to assert itself as a leader.
The modern data platform is not just about technology, it is, above all, designed to deliver use cases very quickly. We aim to generate value.

Fun Interactions and Demonstrations of AI Capabilities
At the heart of the event, on the Devoteam stand, a dozen consultants gathered for the occasion. Welcoming and discussing their challenges related to AI and data with professionals from all sectors. And what better way to illustrate these discussions than with an intelligent game that puts the proof in the pudding? Designed specifically for the Snowflake World Tour Paris 2024, visitors had the opportunity to play Ask, a prototype based on the LLM Snowflake Cortex solution. The aim was simple: to play data detective by directly interrogating data relating to the Winter Olympics by voice.
The challenge was clear. To reformulate a question for the application while making as few requests as possible. And, of course, get the best result. Devoteam’s new product was very well received by the public. It made it easy to understand your dataset without mastering the code or complex logic involved in data analysis.
Reflections on Modern Data Platforms
On a different note, Laurent Letourmy, Head of Data at Devoteam France, brought together a panel of partners. All Snowflake specialists, for one of the morning’s most popular sessions, attended by no fewer than 282 spectators. These partners included representatives of the most prominent applications on the platform, including Fivetran, Sifflet, dbt Labs, and Snowflake itself. The conference’s key theme was: “Modern & observable data platforms: why and how to move from BI to data?”
Some answers quickly emerged. In particular, modernising the whole data stack will allow companies to make the most of recent migrations to the cloud. This dynamic makes perfect sense when you choose a modern data platform and put broader, more collaborative, less technical, and more analysis-focused teams in place. Moreover, it’s essential to offer greater visibility during migration or processing operations, aligning with the emergence of observability. The ultimate aim is to save data teams time, enable scalability and generate use cases more quickly.
A company’s data platform lifespan is around 15 years. This is a strategic choice to anticipate tomorrow’s use cases for highly advanced tools, particularly Gen AI.

Devoteam’s Partnership Strategy and Ambitions for Snowflake
Thanks to its new potential and the scale of its ecosystem mobilised around its platform, Snowflake is a partner of choice for Devoteam. It’s a logical move, in line with our strategy of making AI a major driver of transformation and performance for our customers. We’re convinced that AI will drive tomorrow’s results, accelerated by data and the flexibility offered by cloud services. Snowflake joins a team of partners of major players in the technology landscape, such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google, reinforcing and complementing our value proposition. Our ambition for Snowflake is to become an elite-level Regional System Integrator for the solution by the end of 2025 and to double the group’s workforce capacity each year over the next three financial years.
This involves building up a community of platform experts throughout the EMEA market. We have already partly achieved this objective, training nearly 200 experts in the solution and certifying more than 30 employees. The co-development of new approaches based on the platform and targeting dedicated processes and sectors – currently finance and retail – is at the heart of this partnership. As true technological architects, we are convinced that current and future transformations must make the most of data and AI.
Driven by Snowflake, we’re developing unique integration skills and are a force to be reckoned with in a constantly innovating environment. For an ESN like ours, that’s a strength.
