Paris, France – September 16, 2024 – Devoteam, a consulting firm specialising in technology, cloud, cyber, AI, and sustainable development, announced that the climate corporation action organisation SBTi (Science-Based Targets Initiative) has validated its short-term (2028) and long-term (2050) greenhouse gas emission reduction targets for scopes 1, 2, and 3, considered to be in line with the provisions adopted by the Paris Agreement and the 1.5°C trajectory.
Devoteam Achieves SBTi Validation
At the beginning of 2024, Devoteam submitted its CO2 emission reduction targets to the Science-Based Target initiative (SBTi), in accordance with a +1.5°C scenario. Today, Devoteam is proud to announce that the SBTi has validated its science-based targets and that they are in line with its Corporate Net-Zero Standard.
SBTi has classified Devoteam’s targets for scopes 1 and 2 as ambitious, in line with the 1.5°C trajectory.
- Devoteam SAS commits to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by 2050
- Near-Term Targets: Devoteam SAS commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 33.3% by 2028 from a 2022 base year. Devoteam SAS also commits to reduce scope 3 GHG emissions 44% per million EUR value added within the same timeframe.
- Long-Term Targets: Devoteam SAS commits to reduce absolute scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions 90% by 2050 from a 2022 base year.
To achieve this goal, all Devoteam employees must obtain their Sustainable IT – Level 1 certification, and Devoteam is implementing a carbon plan that covers the three scopes of its emissions:
- Scope 1: Direct emissions generated by its activities, such as exhaust fumes from vehicles used.
- Scope 2: Indirect emissions resulting from the production of electricity or heat used, particularly to power its buildings.
- Scope 3: Indirect emissions related to other activities, including purchases, business travel, and commuting.
Among the initiatives:
- Devoteam is voluntarily reducing its energy consumption, particularly for fossil fuels, by adopting new working methods – including hybrid and flexible work, renovating its buildings, and launching energy-saving and insulation programs. Furthermore, in 2023, 60% of the energy used within the Group was renewable.
- Devoteam’s business travel policy aims to reduce all travel, limit the use of airplanes, and promote train travel and sustainable travel (no planes for trips under 3 hours, no planes for internal seminars concerning a single country, etc.). Financial directors and purchasing managers evaluate suppliers and purchased products or services to favor the most sustainable options.
- All Devoteam offices are committed to reducing and sorting waste. The company is taking action to repair, reuse, donate to non-profit organisations or its employees, and recycle with the help of local actors, focusing particularly on electronic waste.
- Devoteam is part of the Shift Project’s “A Digital World for the 21st Century” program, a think tank working towards a low-carbon economy, aiming to establish specifications for the low-carbon transformation of the digital industry and its contribution to reducing emissions in other sectors.
Devoteam also voluntarily engages its employees in its sustainable strategy by training them on climate change and the role of tech in mitigating and adapting to it, and by encouraging them to take action. The goal is to certify at least 80% of Devoteamers on Sustainable IT by 2025.
Furthermore, Devoteam organises every year the “Sustainable Development Month” internally to extend the European Sustainable Development Week. This year, the operation will occur from September 30th to October 25th. This initiative aims to demonstrate Devoteam’s commitment to the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to give all employees a chance to learn more, get involved, and understand how everyone can promote them in what they do. More than 20 Devoteam countries are involved in the initiative, which offers activities for everyone and covers various topics: well-being, mental health, physical activity, working with NGOs, and much more.
Devoteam is committed to communicating transparently and regularly on its progress, mainly through an annual sustainability report. This method reflects its desire to adopt a responsible approach and maintain a constant link with its stakeholders throughout its continuous improvement process.
